Mollie, Mollie, Mollie!!

Well, I took Mollie to the vet on Monday for her 1st ever vet visit. When Dain got Mollie from her previous owner, she told him that Mollie was 2 years old. During the vet visit, Dr. Southerland told me that Miss Mollie is 3 1/2 years old (He said you can tell by her teeth). Way to be previous owners....Glad you know your dog and her age!

Well here's how our Vet visit with Dr. Southerland turned out ...(He's a great Vet by the way...if you are looking for a vet go see him at Kiehl Ave Animal Clinic....he and all of his workers are animal lovers and their prices are VERY VERY reasonable)...

Mollie got all of her vaccinations, he did a check for heart worms and hook worms. He told us that the initial heartworm test came back negative, but they do a more indepth one and we would know the results Thursday evening (yesterday). The test for hookworms was positive. No big deal, he gave us some medicine to give her at home and it will kill the hookworms. She also had a bacteria infection in her ears and he gave us some meds to take care of that. Well....Dain got a call last night from Dr. Southerland.........Mollie also has Heartworms. We are taking her in next week and they will keep her for 2 days and give her the treatment to kill the heartworms. We will then have to keep her in a kennel in the house so she can't be active (no exercise, walking, jumping, etc) for a month. He said that 30 days from the treatment we will put her on Heartguard and all should be fine. We shall see!

Everything else checked out great and he said that he thought Dain had found a great dog! He said she was the most well mannered Jack Russell he has ever seen. Before we got Mollie, she was a outside dog that came and went as she pleased and had almost been hit by cars several times. She had never been taken to the vet and pretty much ate anything that she wanted or could get (cat food included). The previous owner told him that they were hardly ever home and Mollie was never played with because of that. I'm so glad that Dain got her out of the situation she was in. She's such a happy dog and deserves so much more than she was getting. As you can tell from the picture above she has made herself at home and likes to nap. She fell asleep eating a dog bone...you can see what's left of it on the couch. HA!

So our newest addition to the family that is suppose to be an outside dog will now be an inside dog until she is over all of this crazy mess, which will be a month+.....which means she is going to be addicted to being inside and probably won't want to go outside after it's all over with.

That's about all I have now! I hope you are all having a good day!

She will more than likely want to stay inside all of the time from now on! She is too cute. We have got to bring the kids to see the dogs.
