Since this is my first post I thought I would take the time to tell about our family. It may get long, but it's who we are and where we've been! Dain and I met in June of 2000. We met through mutual friends (Whitney and Ashley) and hit it off immediately. On our one year anniversary of our first date we went to Hot Springs for the day. While we were there Dain took me up to an out look point on Hickory Nut Mountain that overlooks Lake Ouachita. We had been there for about 10 or 15 minutes just taking in the scenery. I was leaning on the rock wall and he was standing behind me taking pictures of the lake (or so I thought). I said something like I can't believe we've been together for a year already and he got really quiet. I turned around and he was down on one knee and said "I know and I want to make it I life time, will you marry me?". I'd love to share some of the pictures with you, but thanks to Wal-Mart we don't have any. GRRRR!!! We got married 9 months to the day later on March 23, 2002. We celebrated our 5th year wedding anniversary in March this year.
We've been through a lot in our first 5 years. Some happy and some not soo much, but all of which have made us both much stronger people and Christians. Here's a run down of our first 5 years together and a little about our families. Our first 3 months together we lived in an apartment in Sherwood. We bought our first home in Cabot that same year in July. In May of 2005 we moved back to Sherwood where we purchased our current home.
We've lost 2 babies early in pregnancy that are in Heaven with the Lord now. We lost the first one on July 16, 2005 by natural miscarriage and the 2nd one on December 4, 2005. The 2nd one was an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured my tube. When I had the ectopic rupture I was close to going to meet the Lord too, but Dr Fuller saved my life through emergency surgery. I am very grateful to be alive and well. Dain and I have both grown a lot through all of this. We would love to have a baby someday and know that when we are going to be blessed with a baby to bring home and love is in God's hands.
We have a puppy named Lollie. She will turn 3 years old next month. She is a miniature daschund/chihuahua mix. Lollie is black and tan and adorable. She loves to cuddle and ALWAYS sleeps under the covers. If you have a blanket out, she is under it!! We're convinced that she thinks she owns the house! HA!!!
Dain's parents and my parents have both been married for 30+ years. Both of our Dad's are named Roy....everybody gets them confused when we talk about them so they've named themselves RoyB and RoyC. We've been through 2 parents fighting cancer. My Mom was diagnosed and won the fight against breast cancer in 2005. Dain's Dad was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2004. He is in remission now, but Multiple myeloma is not curable, only treatable, so his Dad will be on a pill form of chemo for the rest of his life to keep his cancer in remission. Dain's Dad also had to have a valve replacement surgery on April 23rd this year. It was a scary 2 or 3 weeks, but he made it through. Praise the Lord they are both still here today!!
Dain is an only child and I have both a brother (Anthony who is married to Adana and lives in Henderson, TN) and a sister (Stephanie who is married to Phillip who lives in Benton, AR). We have 2 nieces, Aubrey who is 9 and Kayla who is 5 and we have a niece or NEPHEW on the way. We're all hoping for a boy! Aubrey and the baby to be are Anthony and Adana's. Kayla is Stephanie and Phillip's.
We have a close family and love to get together with each other when we can.God has blessed us with a loving family who has been there for us and with us since the beginning of our relationship. He has also blessed us with some truly wonderful friends who we know we can always count on. We love them all for everything they have and will do for us!!
